⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 4/10 THE SUMMARY Jessica Alba makes her return to the action genre as Parker, a high-level Special Forces commando who rushes back to her dusty hometown of Creation, New Mexico, after her father dies in a mysterious "accident" at the local mine. Taking over the family bar, she quickly realizes the town’s sheriff (and her ex-boyfriend) and his unhinged brother are involved in a massive black-market arms deal. Armed with a tactical knife and a lot of pent-up rage, Parker has to dismantle a corrupt political dynasty led by a sleazy Senator (Anthony Michael Hall). It’s a classic "one-woman-army" setup that attempts to modernize the 80s revenge thriller for the Netflix era. THE PROS Jessica Alba is the absolute winner here; she looks the part and handles the choreography with a high-quality, physical intensity that feels sincere. The action—specifically the knife-fighting—is quite gripping and feels much more honest than the typical over-edited CGI brawls we see in bigger blockbusters. It earns a 4/10 because the cinematography is surprisingly high-quality, using the desert landscape to create a "Neo-Western" vibe that gives the film a polished, cinematic look. Gabriel Basso (from *The Night Agent*) brings a decent, grounded energy as Parker’s stoner best mate, providing the few flickers of personality in an otherwise fairly stoic cast. THE CONS It lands a 4/10 because the script is a total clanger, filled with every action trope and cliché in the book. The middle part is incredibly sluggish, bogged down by repetitive exposition that makes the 106-minute runtime feel much longer than it actually is. It misses a higher mark because the villains are paper-thin caricatures; Anthony Michael Hall is fine, but his character is so "textbook evil politician" that there’s zero suspense. The biggest "head-scratcher" is the lack of a satisfying payoff—the final confrontation feels rushed and quality-deficient, with several major moments happening off-screen or ending in a way that feels unearned. It’s a bit of a "snoozefest" that struggles to decide if it wants to be a gritty drama or a mindless popcorn flick. THE VERDICT A 4/10. A sincere but ultimately generic Netflix actioner that is a winner only if you’re a die-hard Jessica Alba fan or just need something mindless to play in the background. While it’s a high-quality production in terms of looks, the weak writing keeps it from reaching "epic status." It’s a bit of a clanger compared to the legendary action movies we’ve been reviewing, and certainly not a banger that’ll stay in your rotation. An honest effort that proves Alba still has the moves, even if the material doesn't deserve her. THE VIBE Like a dusty road in a heatwave. It smells of motor oil, dry sage, and the metallic tang of a sharpened blade.

THE SUMMARY
