Overview

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 6/10 THE SUMMARY Carlos, nicknamed "Toro," is a decorated special forces hero whose life is ripped apart when his wife is brutally murdered. Just as he’s descending into a pit of despair and cheap whiskey, a literal stroke of fate (and a very large bank account) turns him into a millionaire overnight. Instead of buying a private island and chilling out, Carlos does the sensible thing: he buys a private army and enough high-grade weaponry to invade a small country. Along with his most loyal soldiers, he goes on a tactical, high-budget shopping spree for the heads of the people who crossed him. THE PROS This is "The Punisher" with a Bruce Wayne budget. Released in early 2026, it has quickly shot up the Amazon Prime charts because it delivers exactly what it says on the tin: brutal, high-octane payback. Omar Chaparro brings a gritty, weathered energy to Toro, and the action sequences are surprisingly well-shot—think John Wick but with more tactical military flair. It’s a "Guaranteed Banger" for those nights when you just want to see a very bad person meet a very expensive end. The "arsenal" scenes are essentially gear-porn for military enthusiasts. THE CONS The plot is thinner than a piece of single-ply tissue paper. It relies on a massive "deus ex machina" (suddenly becoming a millionaire) to move the story along, which feels a bit lazy. It’s also unapologetically generic—it doesn't try to reinvent the revenge genre, it just polishes the existing trophies. Interestingly, the director, Rodrigo Valdés, insisted on using as many practical effects as possible for the explosions, which is why the "arsenal" scenes feel so weighty and real compared to typical CGI-heavy blockbusters.
