⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Eddie Brock and his brain-hungry alien roomie, Venom, are living through the "Odd Couple" phase of their relationship. While Eddie tries to restart his journalism career by interviewing the deranged serial killer Cletus Kasady, a botched execution leads to the birth of Carnage—a bigger, redder, and much meaner symbiote. As Kasady and his sonic-powered girlfriend, Shriek, tear through San Francisco, Eddie and Venom have to settle their petty squabbles to stop a literal bloodbath. THE PROS Tom Hardy is epic status; his dual performance as the bickering Eddie and Venom is the undisputed winner of the film. The dynamic is punchy and leans fully into the comedy, especially during the "symbiote break-up" scene where Venom heads to a rave. Woody Harrelson is quality as Cletus Kasady, bringing a creepy, Southern-fried menace that makes the stakes feel real. It’s a good movie because it clocks in at a lean 97 minutes, cutting out the fluff and jumping straight into the monster-on-monster carnage. Director Andy Serkis uses his mo-cap expertise to make the symbiote fights look more fluid and visceral than the first outing. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because the plot is a bit of a damp squib, following a very standard "hero vs. evil version of hero" formula. Naomie Harris as Shriek feels slightly underused, and her relationship with Cletus can feel sluggish compared to the high-energy chaos of the title characters. It misses a 9/10 mark because the PG-13 rating holds back the true brutality you’d expect from a character named "Carnage," leaving some of the kills feeling a bit quality-deficient for hardcore horror fans. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and highly recommended if you just want a fast, funny, and chaotic creature feature. It’s a winner for the banter and the mid-credits scene that practically broke the internet. Go and watch it for the "Lethal Protector" vibes—it’s pure quality.
