⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Based on a true story that’s almost too ridiculous to believe, two twenty-something slackers from Miami, David Packouz (Miles Teller) and Efraim Diveroli (Jonah Hill), exploit a little-known government initiative during the Iraq War. They start small but quickly land a $300 million contract to arm the Afghan Military. What follows is a chaotic, adrenaline-fueled dive into the world of international arms dealing, where the money is massive, the logistics are a nightmare, and the partners they’ve chosen are far more dangerous than the war zones they’re driving through. THE PROS Jonah Hill is the engine that makes this movie roar; he brings a high-pitched, unhinged energy to Efraim that’s both hilarious and deeply unsettling. Miles Teller plays the straight man perfectly, giving us a grounded perspective as the scale of the fraud spins out of control. The film manages to make the boring paperwork of government contracting feel like a high-stakes heist, and the "Triangle of Death" sequence is a genuine highlight that injects some real tension into the comedy. It’s a slick, stylish look at the absurdity of the American military-industrial complex, delivered with enough wit and banter to keep it moving at a decent clip. THE CONS It stays at a 7 because it feels a lot like a "lite" version of *The Wolf of Wall Street*, never quite finding its own unique voice in the "greedy guys get in too deep" genre. While the banter is solid, the film glosses over the darker, human cost of their business, which makes some of the emotional beats feel a bit hollow. The pacing sags slightly in the final act when the inevitable betrayal starts to unfold, following a blueprint that’s a bit too predictable to be truly gripping.
