⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Cole is a scrawny, low-level hacker living out of his car in Salt Lake City, scraping by by "wardriving"—stealing crumbs of data from unsecured Wi-Fi networks. His quiet life of digital pickpocketing hits a wall when Oscar, a local criminal, forces him into a high-stakes cyberheist. The target is Sarah, a woman with $800k in her bank account, but once the money is moved, Cole realizes he’s been played. Sarah isn't the mark; she’s being used by a lethal mob lawyer named Mark Bilson to launder cash. Now, Cole has to use every scrap of his tech skills to get the money back, save the girl, and survive a cat-and-mouse game where the villains have more than just digital weapons. THE PROS Dane DeHaan is a total win as Cole; he perfectly captures that twitchy, isolated energy of a bloke who’s more comfortable with a keyboard than a conversation. The atmosphere is epic status—it’s a moody, neo-noir ride that makes Salt Lake City look like a techno-thriller playground. It’s an 8/10 because it keeps the hacking grounded; you won't see any "flying through 3D code" nonsense here, just punchy, realistic tension. Sasha Calle is quality as Sarah, and Jeffrey Donovan brings a sinister, cold gravitas to the lawyer role that makes every scene he’s in a winner. The final standoff in the desert is pure quality drama. THE CONS It misses a 9/10 because some of the plot beats feel a bit like a damp squib if you’ve seen 'Drive' or other lone-wolf thrillers—it follows the formula quite closely. The pacing in the first half can feel slightly sluggish while Cole is just driving around vaping and hacking small scores. It earns an 8/10 because while the action is punchy, there’s one fight scene where Cole suddenly becomes a martial arts expert, which felt a bit quality-deficient and hard to believe for a scrawny hacker. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and highly recommended for fans of gritty, lo-fi crime thrillers. It’s a winner for DeHaan’s performance and the moody vibes.
