    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 6/10 ​ THE SUMMARY ​The 2026 romantic comedy season kicks off with this glossy, sun-drenched trip to the Italian countryside. The plot follows Maya (a bubbly social media architect) and Leo (a cynical, "old school" architect), two rivals who both inherit half of a crumbling Tuscan villa from a distant relative they barely knew. Naturally, they have to renovate the place together to sell it. It’s the cinematic equivalent of a giant bowl of pasta—you know exactly what it’s going to taste like, it’s comforting, but it’s mostly just carb-heavy fluff. ​ THE PROS ​The scenery is a "Guaranteed Banger." If you’ve been stuck in a cubicle or a gloomy city, this movie will make you want to sell your car and buy a vineyard. The chemistry between the leads is surprisingly decent, especially during the "renovation montage" where they inevitably get covered in paint and realize they don't actually hate each other. It’s "The Business" for anyone who wants a low-stakes, beautiful-looking escape that doesn't require any heavy lifting from the brain. Plus, the supporting cast of local Italian villagers provides some genuine, lighthearted humor that keeps things from getting too sappy. ​ THE CONS ​It is a "Masterpiece of Clichés." You can set your watch by the plot beats: the "accidental" fall into each other's arms, the misunderstanding that happens 20 minutes before the end, and the final grand gesture at the airport/train station. It’s a 6/10 because it feels like it was written by an AI that was fed a diet of nothing but Hallmark movies and travel brochures. It’s "The Garbage" for anyone looking for a fresh take on the genre; it’s predictable from the very first olive harvest. ​ THE VERDICT ​A 6/10. It’s a "pleasant enough" watch that’ll satisfy your craving for Italian views and easy romance. It misses the 9/10 mark because it doesn't have a single original bone in its body, but it’s perfect background noise for a rainy Sunday afternoon. Not a disaster like The Yeti, but definitely not a classic. ​ INSOMNIAC TRIVIA ​ To keep the production "authentic," the director insisted on using local artisans for the renovation scenes, and some of the background extras are actual residents of the village where they filmed. Also, the lead actress reportedly had to take a crash course in Italian cooking because she couldn't even boil water before she got the role. Fun fact: The villa used in the film has since been listed on Airbnb for a staggering $2,000 a night, proving that movies are the best real estate agents. ​ THE VIBE ​ Like a glass of cheap Prosecco. It’s bubbly, it’s sweet, and it goes down easy, but you’ll probably forget you even drank it by tomorrow morning.
