⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Louise is a single mum working in a psychiatrist’s office who starts an affair with her new boss, David. Things get weirdly complicated when she strikes up a secret friendship with his wife, Adele. It starts as a typical domestic thriller about a messy love triangle, but quickly spirals into something much darker and more surreal. As Louise gets caught between the couple, she realizes their marriage is held together by a terrifying secret that involves lucid dreaming and a past that refuses to stay buried. It all builds toward a final twist that is so mental it practically broke the internet when it first landed. THE PROS This is an 8/10 because it takes a massive risk with its genre. What starts as a grounded drama slowly introduces supernatural elements that shouldn't work but somehow do. Eve Hewson is chilling as Adele; she plays the "perfect wife" with a glass-eyed intensity that makes you feel like something is very wrong behind her eyes. The show is beautifully filmed, using bright, saturated colours to contrast with the growing rot in the characters' lives. It’s a series that demands a rewatch the second it finishes, just so you can spot all the clues you missed for that legendary ending. THE CONS It misses a 9 because the "big twist" is incredibly polarizing. If you prefer your thrillers to stay grounded in reality, the final revelation might feel like a bit of a "cheat" that comes out of nowhere. The middle episodes can also feel a bit sluggish as Louise repeats the same mistakes, making the plot feel like it’s circling the drain before the madness finally kicks in. It settles at an 8 because, while it’s undeniably gripping, the shift into the supernatural can be a bit of a leap for viewers who were expecting a standard "cheating husband" story. THE VERDICT A solid 8/10. It’s a stylish, addictive, and genuinely shocking limited series that will leave you staring at the wall for twenty minutes once it’s over. When the book was released, the publishers used the hashtag #WTFThatEnding to market it, knowing that the final twist would be the main talking point for every reader.• Real Locations: Many of the lush, isolated Scottish scenes were filmed at Ardkinglas House in Argyll.
