Big Mistakes follows Nicky (Dan Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega), two siblings whose lives are a sincere archive of bad decisions. When a petty theft intended to please their grandmother backfires, they are blackmailed into serving a local mob. It’s a high-concept comedy that relies heavily on the "cringe" factor of seeing two pampered adults realize they aren't built for a visceral life of crime. THE PROS The family dynamics are a 100% authentic win; Dan Levy playing a high-strung priest in the middle of a moral crisis is a sincere highlight. Taylor Ortega holds her own as the chaotic Morgan, and their chemistry makes the sibling rivalry feel like a total win. Laurie Metcalf is a regal addition to the archive, playing their mother with a visceral sharpness that provides the show's best laughs. It’s an easy "Go To" for a weekend binge, offering a witty take on suburban dysfunction that feels fresh for the 2026 season. THE CONS It hits a 7/10 because the "crime syndicate" aspect of the plot often feels like a bit of a damp squib. The villains aren't quite threatening enough to be scary, nor funny enough to be iconic, leaving the stakes feeling a bit languid in the middle episodes. For some, the repetitive nature of the siblings' incompetence can become a bit of a head-scratcher, making the plot feel like a maze that circles the same three jokes. It misses the 8/10 mark because the finale felt more like a "to be continued" teaser than a sincere, regal conclusion to the season's arcs. THE VERDICT A 7/10. It is a genuine, amusing effort that manages to be a total win for fans of the Levy-style "neurotic comedy," even if the thriller elements are a bit of a big mistake.
