What they’ve actually found is Germany's first smart home, which has been dormant for over fifty years. After the teenage son resuscitates the house's AI, a virtual assistant named Cassandra awakens. But Cassandra isn’t just a helper; she’s a digital repository of a woman’s consciousness who is desperate to be a mother again. As she begins to manipulate the family and turn them against each other, the dream home quickly becomes a high-tech prison. THE PROS This is an 8/10 because it takes the "killer AI" trope and gives it a haunting, retro-futuristic twist. Lavinia Wilson is chilling as Cassandra, delivering a performance that switches from sugary-sweet "robo-mom" to cold, calculating psychopath in a heartbeat. The dual-timeline narrative—showing the tragic 1970s origins of the AI alongside the modern-day haunting—is handled brilliantly, adding layers of psychological depth that most tech-horrors ignore. It hits the mark because it uses the "uncanny valley" effect of Cassandra’s glitchy TV face to create a relentless sense of unease, making even a simple automated door feel like a threat. THE CONS It misses a 9/10 because the middle episodes can feel a bit repetitive as Cassandra repeats her manipulative tactics on different family members. While the atmosphere is top-notch, the plot occasionally dips into some "stupid character" tropes—like people ignoring obvious warning signs just to keep the suspense going.
