⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY When a pizza delivery driver is gunned down in South London, DI Kip Glaspie refuses to accept it as just another random act of violence. This four-part series takes place over just four days, unraveling a tangle of lives that includes a high-ranking MP, a drug-addicted single mother, and a vicar hiding a secret affair. What starts as a simple murder investigation quickly morphs into a deep dive into the UK's immigration system, military trauma, and the political games played behind closed doors. THE PROS Carey Mulligan is brilliant as the lead detective; she brings a sharp, no-nonsense energy that keeps the story grounded. The show moves fast, and because it’s a self-contained four-part story, it doesn't have the space to get boring. The cast is a who's who of British talent, with John Simm, Billie Piper, and Nicola Walker all putting in shifts. It handles massive topics like the refugee crisis and post-Brexit tension with a lot of confidence, making the murder feel like just one piece of a much larger puzzle. THE CONS It misses the 8/10 mark because the social commentary can feel a bit heavy-handed. At times, the characters stop sounding like people and start sounding like they’re delivering a lecture on the state of the nation. The script is incredibly "busy," trying to cram about six different subplots into just four hours, which means some of the side stories don't get the breathing room they deserve.
