    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Welcome back to the turn of the millennium, when Flash animation was the king of the internet and Gotham City’s finest ladies decided they didn’t need Batman to run the show. Gotham Girls (2000–2002) is a series of witty-ly sharp shorts featuring Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman as they wreak havoc, trade insults, and generally make life a nightmare for Commissioner Gordon. It’s a bit of a time capsule now, but it was the first time we really got to see these icons outside of the Dark Knight's shadow, proving that even in 2000, the girls were the business. THE PROS The voice acting is a total win because they brought back the legendary cast from the 90s Batman: The Animated Series. Hearing Arleen Sorkin’s authentic Harley Quinn is a sincere treat that makes any fan’s heart skip a beat. The show is a genuine belter for its humor—it doesn’t take itself seriously at all, leaning into slapstick and girl-power snark that still feels fresh. It’s a total win for completionists who want to see the "900+ archive" of DC history, especially since it captures that specific, bright, and slightly unhinged energy that defined the early digital era. THE CONS It misses the 8/10 mark because, let’s be honest, the animation quality is a total head-scratcher by 2026 standards. It’s very "early internet"—choppy movements and flat backgrounds that can be a bit of a buzzkill if you’re used to modern high-def masterpieces. The episodes are tiny, often just a few minutes long, which can lead to a bit of a Languid Burn if you’re looking for a deep, complex plot. It’s total garbage that the series ends so abruptly, leaving you wanting a proper, long-form version of this girl-gang chaos. THE VERDICT A 7/10. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • The First Harley: This was one of the first projects where Harley Quinn was truly the "main character" rather than just the Joker's sidekick. It witty-ly set the stage for her eventually becoming the "fourth pillar" of DC Comics, a sincere move that changed the brand forever.• Interactive Chaos: Back when it first launched on the Warner Bros. website, these episodes were actually interactive. You could click on items in the background to trigger secret gags or mini-games—a total win for tech-savvy fans in the year 2000.• Bat-Free Zone: Batman almost never appears in the series. The creators sincerely wanted to focus on the chemistry between the villains, making it a "Gals’ Night Out" that lasts for three seasons of digital mischief. THE VIBE Like bubblegum flavored with a little bit of poison, the sound of a dial-up modem, and the flash of a neon mallet. It’s snarky, retro, and surprisingly smart. It makes you want to dye your hair half-red, start a botanical garden, and realize that girls just wanna have... total control of the city.
