    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 5/10 THE SUMMARY Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the children of a notorious serial killer, but there’s a catch—their dad was actually a high-ranking demon. While Daimon works as an ethics professor who moonlights as an exorcist, Ana runs an auction house in San Francisco while hunting down the worst of humanity as a vigilante. They have to team up to deal with their institutionalised mother and a growing demonic threat that’s tied to their family's dark bloodline. It’s a supernatural horror show that tries to be Marvel’s version of *Supernatural* or *The Exorcist*, but with a lot more family trauma. THE PROS The family dynamic is actually quite interesting. Elizabeth Marvel plays the possessed mother, Victoria, and she is easily the standout—her performance is genuinely creepy and gives the show its only real scares. The sibling rivalry between Daimon and Ana feels authentic, with both of them dealing with their messed-up childhood in completely different ways. Visually, the show looks decent; it’s got a cold, moody atmosphere and the demonic "black goo" effects are handled well. It also doesn't shy away from being a bit more adult than your typical Disney+ show, leaning into some body horror and darker themes. THE CONS It’s a 5/10 because it’s incredibly bland for a show about the literal children of Satan. It has a massive identity crisis, seemingly embarrassed of its comic book roots—they even removed the "Marvel" branding from the marketing. The pacing is a total slog, spending way too much time in grey hospitals and boring corridors instead of exploring the cool, hellish lore. It misses the mark because it takes itself way too seriously, lacking any of the wit or charm that made the Netflix shows work. It settles at a 5 because it’s a generic "demon-of-the-week" procedural that you’ve seen a hundred times before, and it was cancelled so quickly that it ends on a cliffhanger that will never be resolved. THE VERDICT A mediocre 5/10. It’s a forgettable supernatural drama that happens to have a Marvel logo hidden somewhere in the credits. It isn't a 6 or 7 because it’s just too slow and lacks any real spark or excitement. If you’re a massive fan of horror and have already watched everything else in the vault, you might get through it, but most people will find themselves checking their phones by the second episode. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • The Final Bow: This was the very last series produced by the original Marvel Television department before everything was moved under Marvel Studios. Because of this, it feels like a bit of a "forgotten" show that never got the support it needed from the higher-ups.• Name Change: In the comics, the character’s name is spelled "Hellstrom" with two 'Ls'. For the TV show, they dropped one of them to make it look a bit less like a comic book name and more like a standard family drama.• Canonical Mystery: The show was originally meant to be part of a "Spirits of Vengeance" crossover with Ghost Rider. When the Ghost Rider show was cancelled, Helstrom was left floating in its own bubble with almost zero connections to the rest of the MCU. THE VIBE Like a cold hospital room at 3 AM, the smell of damp earth and incense, and the feeling of a shadow moving in the corner of your eye. It’s moody, grey, and a bit depressing. It makes you want to turn all the lights on, avoid family reunions, and realize that some demons are better off left in the comics.
