⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARYThe 2018 final act of the "Vampire Diaries" trilogy that traded high-stakes brooding for a "monster-of-the-week" boarding school vibe. Legacies follows Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell)—the tribrid daughter of Klaus Mikaelson—as she attends the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted. Alongside Alaric Saltzman and a new generation of supernatural students, she battles a seemingly endless parade of mythological creatures emerging from the Malivore pit. It ran for four seasons, serving as a whimsical, often self-aware archive of the TVD universe before the "Mystic Falls" era officially closed its doors. THE PROSDanielle Rose Russell is a 100% authentic win; she carries the heavy legacy of the Mikaelson name with a sincere, grounded performance that anchors the show’s more absurd moments. The "Found Family" dynamic at the school is a total win, especially the sisterly friction between Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, which provided the show's most regal character development. It is a gripping feat of creativity, as the show moved away from the standard vampire/werewolf/witch triad to introduce visceral new creatures like dragons, gargoyles, and genies. It’s the "Go To" for fans who wanted a lighter, more "Buffy-esque" take on the world of Mystic Falls. THE CONSIt hits a 7/10 because the "Malivore" plotline became a bit of a maze that overstayed its welcome, making certain seasons feel a bit languid and repetitive.
