    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Off Campus is basically what happens when attractive university students with unresolved trauma, emotional baggage, and dangerously good jawlines keep making terrible romantic decisions for several seasons straight. Set around a chaotic college hockey scene, the series follows a group of athletes juggling relationships, rivalries, drunken mistakes, and enough emotional damage to bankrupt several therapists. It’s fast, messy, funny, and permanently one bad text message away from total disaster. THE PROS The chemistry is the whole game here, and thankfully the cast absolutely delivers. The friendships feel natural, the flirting actually crackles instead of sounding generated in a laboratory, and the banter lands with proper “group chat at 1am” energy. The show also deserves credit for letting its characters be flawed without instantly turning them into unbearable caricatures. There’s a surprising amount of emotional sincerity underneath all the hookups and hockey nonsense too. When the series slows down long enough to explore insecurity, loyalty, and fear of vulnerability, it becomes way more compelling than people expecting “just another romance drama” might realise. The pacing also flies—episodes disappear dangerously quickly. THE CONS It lands at a 7/10 because the series occasionally leans too hard into familiar streaming romance clichés. Certain misunderstandings could be solved by characters communicating like functioning adults for literally thirty seconds. Some storylines also feel stretched purely to keep relationship drama simmering, and side characters occasionally drift into “quirky support system” territory rather than feeling fully fleshed out. It misses the 8/10 mark because while it’s ridiculously bingeable, it doesn’t always trust its quieter emotional moments enough before rushing back toward another argument or hookup. THE VERDICT A very entertaining 7/10. Chaotic, addictive comfort television with enough heart to stop it feeling shallow. It knows exactly what it is and thankfully never tries pretending it’s delivering a grand statement about society. Sometimes you just want attractive people making emotional messes of their lives while hockey sticks get smashed into lockers, and honestly there’s nothing wrong with that. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • The cast reportedly spent weeks training together before filming, not just for the hockey scenes but to build believable “mates who overshare everything” chemistry offscreen.• Several improvised jokes and insults between the main friend group ended up staying in because producers felt the spontaneous chaos sounded more authentic than the scripted banter.• The production intentionally avoided making the university feel overly glamorous, wanting the setting to still resemble a real student environment full of stress, noise, and questionable life choices.• One recurring apartment set became so cluttered with props and takeaway boxes during filming that crew members started referring to it as “the depression flat.”• Internally, parts of the cast reportedly nicknamed the series “Hot People Crying Professionally,” which might honestly be the most accurate synopsis possible. THE VIBE Like cheap vodka, hoodie season, late-night takeaway chips, and emotionally charged arguments that somehow turn into flirting halfway through. Messy, charming, and dangerously bingeable.
