⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 6/10 THE SUMMARY It’s 2052, and the "Clone Club" has been replaced by "Human Print-Outs." *Orphan Black: Echoes* (2024) follows Lucy (Krysten Ritter), a woman who wakes up in a high-tech lab with no memory and a suspicious hole in her life. She eventually crosses paths with a grown-up Kira Manning (Keeley Hawes), who has traded her "special child" status for a career in questionable genetic engineering. It’s a 10-episode attempt to expand the universe by focusing on the emotional fallout of creating life from scratch. However, by April 2026, it is officially the "Echo" that faded too fast, having been cancelled just as it was starting to find its own voice. THE PROS Krysten Ritter is a total win; she brings a gritty, noir-style energy to Lucy that feels like a spiritual successor to her *Jessica Jones* days. Seeing a mature Kira Manning grappling with her mother’s legacy is a sincere, high-stakes emotional hook for fans of the original. The show’s biggest win is its "high-concept" tech—instead of vats and wombs, we get "3D-printed" humans, which allows for some creepy and fascinating philosophical questions about whether a printed person has a soul. Keeley Hawes is the business, playing Kira with a weary intelligence that makes you wonder if she’s the hero or the new villain of the 900+ archive. THE CONS It is a 6/10 because it suffers from "Legacy Weight." It misses the 7/10 mark because, let’s be honest, asking anyone to follow Tatiana Maslany’s performance is a total head-scratcher. The show lacks the manic energy and "sestrahood" that made the original a legend, replaced by a much more clinical, Languid Burn that often feels a bit too slow for its own good. It is total garbage that AMC cancelled it after just one season in September 2024, leaving a massive cliffhanger about Lucy’s origin and the "print-out" revolution completely unresolved. For some, the fact that none of the original clones (aside from a few mentions) actually show up was a total dealbreaker. THE VERDICT A 6/10. It is a genuine attempt to do something different in the same world, but it couldn't quite capture the lightning-in-a-bottle magic of the source material.
