It is an eight-episode masterclass in tension, blending the "second-wave feminism" struggle with the paranoid, cigarette-stained atmosphere of the Soviet era. THE PROSThe central pairing is a 100% authentic win; Emilia Clarke’s over-educated, Russian-speaking Bea is a sincere contrast to Haley Lu Richardson’s abrasive, fearless Twila. Their chemistry turns what could have been a standard spy procedural into a gripping, human story about grief and reinvention. The production design is a total win—capturing a regal but frigid 1970s Moscow that feels visceral and lived-in.
