At its core is a man trying to hold onto control in a world that keeps slipping through his fingers—whether that’s through crime, personal demons, or the people around him who are just as flawed. It plays things fairly grounded, focusing less on spectacle and more on tension, relationships, and the slow build toward consequences that feel inevitable. THE PROS The performances do most of the heavy lifting here. The lead brings a rough, unpredictable edge that keeps things interesting, especially in quieter moments where you’re never quite sure what he’s thinking. There’s a nice sense of realism to the dialogue—nothing feels overly polished, which helps sell the world. When it leans into its darker themes, it actually lands, with a few moments that feel properly tense rather than forced. THE CONS It struggles to stand out.
