    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Welcome to rural Georgia, where a blue line on the ground is the only thing keeping you from a gruesome death. *Teacup* (2024) is a lean, eight-episode horror-thriller loosely inspired by Robert McCammon's novel *Stinger*. It follows a fractured family and their neighbors who find themselves trapped on a remote farm by a mysterious, masked man and an invisible barrier. Between body-snatching aliens and brutal "physical rearrangements," they have to survive the night without killing each other first. By April 23, 2026, it’s remembered as a sharp, high-concept "mystery box" show that unfortunately joined the one-season-wonder club. THE PROS Yvonne Strahovski is a total win; she brings a sincere, weary grit to Maggie Chenoweth that anchors the show's more outlandish elements. The pacing is the business—with most episodes clocking in under 35 minutes, it avoids the usual streaming bloat and keeps the tension at a sincere fever pitch. The "body horror" is a total win for gore-hounds; James Wan’s influence as producer is clear in some of the most gut-churning, practical-effect-heavy deaths in the 900+ archive. It also does a great job of trickling out answers, making the "blue line" mystery a genuine hook rather than a Languid Burn that goes nowhere. THE CONS It is a 7/10 because Peacock officially axed it in early 2025. It misses the 8/10 mark because it left a massive cliffhanger regarding the "blue circle" and the true nature of the visitors that will now never be resolved. It is total garbage that the show radically changed almost everything from the source material, which left fans of the original *Stinger* novel feeling a bit like a head-scratcher was pulled on them. For some, the transition from "ominous supernatural mystery" to "conventional family drama" in the middle episodes felt like a bit of a Languid Burn that slowed down the momentum just as things were getting interesting. THE VERDICT A 7/10. It is a genuine, claustrophobic, and surprisingly scary ride while it lasts.
