    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Think *Mean Girls* meets *Lost* on a budget, set at a British summer camp where "the popular girl" is a literal supernatural threat. The A List follows Mia (Lisa Ambalavanar), a girl who arrives at Peregrine Island expecting to be the queen bee, only to have her throne snatched by the mysterious and manipulative Amber (Ellie Duckles). It’s a twisty teen thriller where social rivalries turn into telepathic mind games and ancient island secrets. After being dropped by the BBC and rescued by Netflix, the series wrapped up its narrative arc with a second season that dropped in 2021. THE PROS The rivalry between Mia and Amber is a total win; Ellie Duckles plays "menacingly polite" with a sincerity that makes you want to hide under your bed. It’s a gripping mix of teen melodrama and low-fi sci-fi that doesn't take itself too seriously but keeps the stakes high. The diversity of the cast is a genuine highlight, especially the sarcastic Alex (Rosie Dwyer), who provides a much-needed grounded perspective in a camp full of brainwashed teenagers. It’s the "Go To" for anyone who misses the high-drama energy of *Pretty Little Liars* but wants a distinctly British, supernatural edge.
