Set in 2026, The Scarecrow follows Kang Tae-ju, a legendary profiler who gets dragged out of his "I’m done with this" retirement by a serial killer who claim's he's innocent of the new bodies popping up. It flips between 1988 and 2019, unraveling a string of "Scarecrow Killings" that feel like a direct callback to the real-life Hwaseong murders. It’s dark, damp, and reminds you that some ghosts never actually leave the crime scene. THE PROS Park Hae-soo is a force—he plays "exhausted by humanity" better than anyone in the game right now. The creative team from Taxi Driver is behind this, and you can feel that same gritty, revenge-heavy DNA in every frame. The dual timelines are handled with actual care instead of just being a confusing gimmick, and the mystery has enough hooks to keep you staring at your screen until the sun comes up. It’s got that Memories of Murder soul that makes every rain-slicked field feel terrifying. To keep things authentic, the production actually filmed in some of the same rural locations to capture that specific "stagnant" atmosphere.
