    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY A chaotic, time bending superhero drama that feels like a dysfunctional family reunion with world ending consequences. The Umbrella Academy follows a group of adopted siblings with powers who are brought back together after their father’s death, only to stumble straight into yet another apocalypse. It jumps through timelines, alternate realities, and plenty of emotional baggage along the way. THE PROS The cast chemistry carries everything. Elliot Page brings real heart as Viktor, while Robert Sheehan’s Klaus is an absolute scene stealer with chaotic energy that somehow never gets old. The show leans into its weirdness in the best way, mixing dark humour, action, and emotional moments without feeling generic. It also has a knack for memorable sequences, especially when music kicks in. THE CONS It can get messy. The constant timeline shifts and resets sometimes make the stakes feel a bit soft, since everything can change again anyway. Some storylines drag longer than they should, and not every character gets equal focus across the seasons. It occasionally feels like it is juggling too much. THE VERDICT An 8/10. Stylish, strange, and consistently entertaining. It does not always hold everything together perfectly, but the characters and tone make it easy to stick with. A fun ride, even when it goes a bit off the rails. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA * The series is based on the comic books by Gerard Way, who is also the lead singer of My Chemical Romance. * Each sibling was born on the same day in 1989 to women who were not pregnant before, which sets up the show’s bizarre premise. * Klaus quickly became a fan favourite thanks to Robert Sheehan’s performance, which blends humour and vulnerability. * The show is known for its use of music, with several scenes built entirely around carefully chosen tracks. * Filming took place largely in Toronto, which doubles as various locations throughout the series. * The final season was confirmed to wrap up the story, bringing the long running timeline chaos to a proper ending. THE VIBE Like a superhero story that forgot to be heroic and decided to be weird, emotional, and slightly unhinged instead.
