⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY On a luxury interstellar spaceship transporting thousands of people to a distant colony planet, a technical glitch causes one cryo-pod to open ninety years too early. Jim (Chris Pratt) finds himself completely alone with nearly a century of travel left. Driven to the brink of madness by isolation, he makes the controversial choice to wake up another passenger, Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence). It’s a high-quality survival story wrapped in a moral dilemma, set against the backdrop of a stunning, high-tech vessel that is slowly falling apart. THE PROS This earns a 7/10 primarily because the production design is absolute quality. The Avalon is a legendary piece of sci-fi architecture, and the visual effects—especially the sequence where the gravity fails in the swimming pool—are a total banger. Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are a winner as a duo, providing a sincere chemistry that keeps the film grounded even when the plot gets a bit shaky. Michael Sheen is a legendary shout as Arthur the android bartender, offering a touch of class and humor to the quiet moments.
