⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 6/10 THE SUMMARY This is a high-concept "screenlife" thriller that takes place entirely on a group of friends' devices. After a legendary urban explorer goes missing in a restricted government facility, his younger brother and a group of mates decide to track his last known GPS coordinates. They break into a derelict testing site that—surprise, surprise—isn't as empty as the "Do Not Enter" signs suggest. As they livestream their break-in, they realize they’ve triggered a security protocol that is far more lethal than a simple trespassing fine. It’s a fast-paced, claustrophobic ride that uses the "found footage" gimmick to keep you right in the middle of the panic. THE PROS The lead, Jack Champion, does a great job of making the frantic energy feel sincere rather than just screaming at a webcam. The way the movie uses real-world apps and desktop interfaces is spot on, making the tech side of things feel honest and grounded in how we actually use our phones. It’s a 6/10 because the first part builds a genuine sense of unease, using the "glitchy" footage to hide things in the shadows that'll have you squinting at the screen. The sound design is top-tier, using muffled audio and distorted pings to create a jumpy atmosphere without relying on cheap scares. There’s some punchy humor early on that captures that "stupid teenagers on the internet" vibe perfectly.
