⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Just when you thought it was safe to stop looking over your shoulder, Death returns with a generational grudge. Set eighteen years after the events of the original film, Stefani—the daughter of a survivor—is plagued by terrifying premonitions of a tower crane collapse. After cheating the "grand design," she discovers that the curse isn't just following her, but is tied to an ancient bloodline debt. It’s a gritty, high-stakes expansion of the lore that proves you can’t outrun the reaper, especially when he’s been waiting nearly two decades to settle the score. THE PROS This is a massive win for fans who missed the franchise's creative carnage. It hits a 7 because the kills are some of the most inventive and mean-spirited yet; they lean heavily into the "Rube Goldberg" style of death that makes everyday objects feel like lethal weapons. The decision to link the story back to the 180 disaster gives the film a sincere sense of weight and history that was missing from later sequels. Tony Todd’s return as the cryptic mortician is an absolute banger, providing that gritty, ominous authority that anchors the whole series. It’s an honest, fast-paced slasher that knows exactly what its audience wants: tension, gore, and that feeling of "he's going to die any second now." THE CONS It stays at a 7 because the "bloodline" lore expansion can feel a bit like a "head scratcher" if you think about it too hard, occasionally over-complicating a simple and effective premise. It misses a higher mark because some of the CGI used for the more elaborate death sequences lacks the grit of the practical effects seen in the earlier films.
