But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force known as Garraka, the city faces a pained, literal deep freeze. New and old generations must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age. It’s a chilly, gadget-filled adventure that tries to balance the gritty nostalgia of the 80s with a fresh, family-focused story. THE PROS The return to Manhattan is a massive result for fans of the original vibe. It hits a 7 because the chemistry between the new cast—especially Mckenna Grace, who remains the sincere heart of the franchise—and the legendary OGs is an absolute banger. Seeing Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson back in the suits with more to do than just a cameo feels honest and earned. The creature designs for the "Death Chill" are visceral and creepy, providing a fair shout of genuine tension. It’s an epic, fun-filled ride that utilizes the pained history of the firehouse to ground the high-stakes spectral action, making the new tech and classic Ecto-1 look better than ever.
