⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 10/10 THE SUMMARY When three eccentric parapsychology professors are kicked out of their cushy university jobs, they decide to go into business for themselves as "professional paranormal investigators." Armed with nuclear-powered proton packs and a converted ambulance, they set up shop in an old New York firehouse just as the city’s supernatural activity starts to redline. It turns out a Babylonian god named Gozer is looking to drop by Central Park, and it’s up to Venkman, Ray, Egon, and their new recruit Winston to save the world from a giant marshmallow mascot and a very possessed Sigourney Weaver. THE PROS This is epic status—the blueprint for the perfect blockbuster. It’s highly recommended because the script is a sincere masterclass in wit; the banter between the leads is punchy, dry, and hasn't aged a day. Bill Murray is a total belter as Venkman, bringing a "too cool for school" energy that balances the celebratory explosion of sci-fi weirdness from Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. The practical effects are a sincere triumph—Slimer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man look more real and tactile than 90% of the CGI we see today. It’s a 10/10 because it manages to be genuinely creepy, laugh-out-loud funny, and a proper action flick all at once. THE CONS At a 10/10, any complaints are a total head-scratcher. Some might say the pacing is a sincere bit sluggish in the very first act before the first bust, but that’s just world-building done right.
