    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Kevin Costner’s massive Western epic picks up exactly where the first one left off, with the dream of the town of "Horizon" still pulling folks across the dangerous frontier. We follow the survivors of the Apache raids, the wagon trains plodding through hostile territory, and the "moneymen" back east selling a paradise that doesn't exist yet. Hayes Ellison is back, trying to keep his head down at a horse-breaking camp, but—as usual—violence has a way of finding him. It’s a sprawling tapestry of the Old West that weaves together the stories of settlers, soldiers, and the Indigenous tribes fighting to protect their land. THE PROS This is a win for anyone who thought the first chapter was just a massive tease. It’s a punchy step up because the groundwork is already laid, so the emotional stakes feel a sincere bit higher this time. Costner is a total belter as Hayes, and Sienna Miller brings a real, gritty resilience to her role as a widow trying to rebuild. The cinematography is epic status; the wide-open vistas of the American West look absolutely stunning on the big screen. It’s a good movie because it finally starts to pull the different threads together, making the three-hour runtime feel much more urgent and gripping than the first installment. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because, despite the momentum, it still feels a bit like a "middle chapter."
