Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson) is a "How-To" columnist who decides to write an article on how to drive a man away in 10 days using every dating "don't" in the book. Meanwhile, advertising exec Ben Berry (Matthew McConaughey) bets his boss he can make any woman fall in love with him in that same timeframe. Neither knows the other has an ulterior motive, leading to a hilarious battle of wills involving a "love fern," a psychotic dog named Krull, and a high-stakes poker game. It’s a classic battle of the sexes that defines the "golden era" of the genre. THE PROS This earns its 8/10 because the chemistry between Hudson and McConaughey is a total winner; they have that effortless, high-quality spark that you just don't see anymore.
