⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Liam Neeson steps away from his usual "man on a plane with a gun" routine for something much more atmospheric and grounded. Set in a remote Irish village in the 1970s, Neeson plays Finbar Murphy, a weary hitman who just wants to hang up his rifle and plant some trees. His quiet retirement is shattered when a group of IRA bombers, led by a ruthless woman (Kerry Condon), flee Belfast and hide out in his sleepy coastal town. When they cross a line that Finbar can't ignore, he’s forced back into a world of violence to protect his neighbors. It’s a slow-burn Irish Western that swaps flashy action for high-stakes morality. THE PROS Liam Neeson is excellent here, delivering a more sincere and weathered performance than we’ve seen from him in years; you can really feel the weight of his past on his shoulders. Kerry Condon is a force of nature as the antagonist, bringing a terrifying, sharp-edged energy that makes her a genuinely formidable match for Neeson. It’s an 8/10 because the cinematography is stunning, capturing the wild, rugged beauty of the Donegal coast in a way that feels honest and incredibly moody. The supporting cast, including the legendary Ciarán Hinds, adds a layer of quality that elevates this above your standard thriller. The first part of the movie does a great job of building the tension, making the quiet village feel like a powder keg just waiting for a spark.
