⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Dom Cobb is a professional "extractor" who steals secrets from people’s dreams while they’re vulnerable. Haunted by the ghost of his dead wife, Mal, he’s offered a "one last job" deal by a powerful businessman named Saito: instead of stealing an idea, he has to plant one. This is "Inception." Cobb assembles a team—a producer, a designer, an actor, and a chemist—to dive through three layers of dreams within dreams. As they descend into the subconscious of a corporate heir, the stakes get lethally high, and Cobb has to face the fact that his own mind might be the biggest trap of all. THE PROS This is epic status for the brain. Christopher Nolan created a heist movie that requires you to actually pay attention, which is a total win in a world of mindless blockbusters. The rotating hallway fight is quality—Joseph Gordon-Levitt doing his own stunts in a massive 100-foot spinning set is pure cinema gold. It’s a 9/10 because it blends high-concept sci-fi with a sincere, heart-wrenching story about grief and the desire to go home. The "DREAMS" acronym (Dom, Robert, Eames, Arthur, Mal, Saito) is a winner of a hidden detail, and Hans Zimmer’s score is punchy enough to rattle your teeth. THE CONS It misses a 10/10 mark because it can feel a bit "talky" in the first hour; the exposition is quality, but it’s a lot of sitting around explaining the rules of the world. Some might find the characters a bit one-note, as they mostly represent functions of a film crew rather than fully fleshed-out people.
