Overview

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Think of this as a gender-swapped, high-octane version of Taken with a side of John Wick. Released on digital/on-demand on April 10, 2026, Infiltrate follows Lily Chen (Orphée Ladouceur-Nguyen), an elite government agent who is forced to go rogue. When a mysterious "Voice" kidnaps her husband, John, Lily is blackmailed into assassinating a list of high-level criminals to buy his life back. As she punches and kicks her way through the criminal underworld, she discovers that her husband’s kidnapping is just a pawn in a much larger game of political corruption. THE PROS The martial arts credentials here are a "Guaranteed Banger." Directed by James Mark (who has a stunt background in everything from John Wick to Pacific Rim), the fight choreography is crisp, brutal, and incredibly inventive. There is a specific scene involving Lily using her high heels as makeshift daggers that is a legitimate "stand up and cheer" moment. Orphée Ladouceur-Nguyen delivers a powerhouse physical performance, proving she can hang with the best in the action genre. It’s a lean, mean 93-minute ride that never lets its foot off the gas. THE CONS The plot is a bit of a "copy of a copy." We’ve seen the "kidnapped family member forces agent to kill" trope dozens of times, and Infiltrate doesn't exactly reinvent the wheel. The "mysterious voice" over the phone feels a bit like a leftover idea from the early 2000s, and the dialogue can be a bit clunky during the rare moments when people aren't being hit in the face. It’s a 7/10 because it’s a Masterpiece of stunt work, but the story is thin enough that you might forget the "why" as soon as the credits roll. THE VERDICT A 7/10. It’s "The Business" if you’re an action purist who cares more about the quality of a roundhouse kick than the depth of the script. It’s a perfect Friday night "pizza and a movie" choice—it’s fast, aggressive, and features some of the best martial arts we’ve seen in 2026 so far. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA Alain Moussi, who plays the primary villain Marcel LaFleur, is a real-life martial arts legend and the star of the Kickboxer reboot franchise. He and James Mark have worked together for years, which is why the stunt team was able to pull off such complex sequences on a relatively tight budget. Fun fact: Most of the film was shot in Toronto, standing in for a generic "crime-ridden city," and the actress Orphée Ladouceur-Nguyen did roughly 90% of her own stunts to keep the camera angles as wide and uninterrupted as possible. THE VIBE Like a shot of adrenaline in a dark alley. It’s sharp, fast, and a little bit bloody—perfect for when you just want to see someone "infiltrate" a room and leave no one standing.
