⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Marvin Gable (Ke Huy Quan) is a mild-mannered real estate agent in the suburbs who hides a gritty secret: he used to be a high-level professional assassin. His quiet life is upended when his former partner-in-crime—who he thought was dead—reappears with a hit out on his head. Forced back into a world of neon-soaked violence and pained reunions, Marvin has to use his old skills to protect his new life. It’s a high-octane action-comedy that blends the "reluctant hero" trope with the frantic, inventive combat style that has redefined the genre in recent years. THE PROS This is an absolute win for Ke Huy Quan. It hits a 7 because he finally gets the leading man action role he deserves, bringing a sincere, pained charm to a character caught between his violent past and his suburban present. The fight choreography is an absolute banger—fast, creative, and making use of everyday objects in a way that feels like a gritty nod to Jackie Chan. The chemistry between Quan and the supporting cast is honest and funny, providing a nice balance to the high body count. It’s an epic, stylish ride that proves you’re never too old to kick a massive amount of door in. THE CONS It stays at a 7 because the plot is a bit of a "head scratcher" if you look for deep logic; it follows the 'John Wick' or 'Nobody' blueprint very closely without adding many new layers to the story.
