⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Three years after her first voyage, Moana receives an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors. She must lead a new crew of unlikely sailors across the vast, dangerous seas of Oceania to break a curse on a hidden island that could reunite the people of the ocean. Maui (Dwayne Johnson) returns to help, but the stakes are higher as Moana balances her duty to her village with the pull of the horizon. It’s a fast-paced sequel that expands the world and dives deeper into the ancient spirits and legends of the Pacific. THE PROS The animation is a total standout; the water physics and tropical lighting are even sharper than the original, making every frame look incredibly vibrant. It hits a 7 because the relationship between Moana and her younger sister adds a grounded, emotional layer to the story that gives Moana a real reason to want to return home. The new crew members bring some fresh humor to the boat, and Maui remains as charismatic as ever, providing the heavy-hitting action and jokes you’d expect. It’s an honest, fun adventure that respects the culture and lore while amping up the scale of the mythical threats. THE CONS It misses a higher score because the songs, while catchy, don’t quite have that same "instant classic" punch as the first film's soundtrack.
