Overview

Despite pulling off one of the biggest heists in Las Vegas history and splitting the $160 million take, each of the infamous Ocean's crew have tried to go straight, lay low and live a legit life... but that's proven to be a challenge. Casino owner Terry Benedict demands that Danny Ocean return the money, plus millions more in interest. Unable to come up the cash, the crew is forced to come together to pull off another series of heists, this time in Rome, Paris, and Amsterdam – but a Europol agent is hot on their heels.

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Terry Benedict has found the crew, and he wants his money back—with interest. Danny Ocean and the team flee to Europe to pull off a series of heists to settle the debt, but they aren't the only thieves in town. A mysterious French rival known as the "Night Fox" challenges them to a high-stakes competition to steal the coronation of a Faberge egg. With a persistent Europol agent (who happens to be Rusty’s ex) hot on their trail, the gang has to navigate a meta, twisty game of cat-and-mouse across Amsterdam, Rome, and Lake Como. THE PROS The film is a win for its sheer style and the "holiday with mates" energy that radiates off the screen. The chemistry between Clooney, Pitt, and Damon remains a total belter, and the addition of Catherine Zeta-Jones adds a punchy bit of romantic tension. The cinematography is gorgeous, capturing the European summer in a way that’s a celebratory explosion of colour. It’s a decent watch because it doesn't try to just remake the first film; it takes a weird, experimental detour that’s actually quite brave for a massive sequel. THE CONS It earns a 7/10 because the plot can be a massive head-scratcher. The "Julia Roberts playing Julia Roberts" twist is a bit of a "love it or hate it" moment that can feel a tad too smug for some. The pacing can feel sluggish in the middle as the group spends a lot of time just chatting in villas rather than actually thieving. It misses the 8/10 mark because the finale feels a bit like a cheat—the big reveal essentially tells the audience that the heist they’ve been watching didn't happen the way they thought, which is a bit of a let-down. THE VERDICT A 7/10. Decent and a recommendation for those who just want to hang out with these characters again. It isn't a vault essential like the first one, but it’s a belter for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Go and watch it for the "Laser Dance" and the banter—it’s slick, even if it’s a bit messy. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Real Luxury: A lot of the film was shot at George Clooney’s actual villa in Lake Como. The cast reportedly stayed there during production, which probably explains why the whole movie feels like a massive inside joke.• The Laser Dance: Vincent Cassel practiced for months to perform the "capoeira" laser-dodging scene. He did the entire sequence himself without a stunt double, which is why the movement looks so fluid and impressive.• Bruce’s Cameo: Bruce Willis’s cameo as himself was a last-minute addition. He was friends with the cast and happened to be in the area, so he popped in to lean into the film's meta-commentary. THE VIBE Like a very expensive espresso on a sun-drenched Italian terrace. It smells like sea salt, designer leather, and white wine. It makes you want to buy a one-way ticket to Rome, wear linen shirts, and realize that sometimes the journey is more important than the actual loot.
