Overview

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY If you have ever wondered what would happen if a true-crime podcaster actually got what they wished for, Psycho Killer is your answer. This 2026 thriller follows a young woman whose obsession with a local cold case leads her right into the crosshairs of the original murderer who has been dormant for decades. It is a sleek, modern cat-and-mouse game that plays on our collective fascination with serial killers and the digital age’s habit of turning tragedy into entertainment. THE PROS The film looks fantastic; the cinematography uses a cold, clinical palette that makes the suburban setting feel genuinely hostile. The lead performance is a absolute win, perfectly capturing that frantic, slightly unhinged energy of someone who has spent too many nights falling down Reddit rabbit holes. There are a couple of set-pieces involving smart-home technology being turned against the protagonist that are genuinely clever and will make you want to put a bit of tape over your webcam the second the credits roll. THE CONS It lands a 7/10 because, despite the polished exterior, the story hits a few too many familiar beats. It is a bit of a Languid Burn in the middle, and if you have seen more than three slasher films in your life, you will probably figure out the "big twist" about forty minutes before the characters do. It is decent and keeps you watching, but it lacks that extra bit of grit or originality to push it into the must-watch category.
