⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) is an idealistic FBI agent who is recruited by a mysterious government task force led by a laid-back CIA officer (Josh Brolin) and a lethal, silent operative with a dark past (Benicio del Toro). Their mission is to take down a Mexican cartel boss, but as they cross the border into Juárez, Kate realizes the "rules" of engagement don't exist in this shadow war. It’s a gritty, relentless descent into a world where the line between the good guys and the monsters has been completely erased. THE PROS This is a masterclass in atmospheric dread. Denis Villeneuve’s direction, combined with Roger Deakins’ stunning cinematography, makes every frame feel heavy with tension. It hits a 9 because it doesn't rely on cheap action tropes; instead, it builds a slow, suffocating pressure that explodes in visceral, honest bursts of violence. The border crossing scene is one of the most gripping sequences in modern cinema. Benicio del Toro is chilling as Alejandro, providing a performance that is both terrifying and deeply pained.
