⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Sonic, a blue hedgehog from another world who can run at supersonic speeds, finds himself hiding out in Green Hills, Montana. After accidentally knocking out the power grid with an emotional "speed burst," he catches the attention of the unhinged, genius robotics expert Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey). Teaming up with a local small-town sheriff named Tom (James Marsden), Sonic must recover his lost rings and escape the government's clutches. It’s a fast-paced buddy-road-trip movie that balances fish-out-of-water comedy with a sincere story about a lonely kid looking for a place to belong. THE PROS Jim Carrey is a absolute win here; he goes full 90s-mode as Robotnik, delivering a total belter of a physical performance that is a celebratory explosion of manic energy. Ben Schwartz brings a sincere, youthful charm to the voice of Sonic, making him feel like a relatable kid rather than just a corporate mascot. The "stop-time" action sequences are the business, clearly inspired by Quicksilver but given a unique hedgehog spin. It’s a good movie because it respects the source material without being bogged down by lore, making it a highly recommended watch for both gamers and families who just want a laugh. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because the "road trip" structure is a bit of a head-scratcher and follows a very safe, predictable formula seen in many live-action/CGI hybrid films.
