Overview

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 10/10 THE SUMMARY Two years after Norman Osborn’s death, Peter Parker is living a nightmare. He’s struggling to pay rent, failing his university classes, and his boss at the Daily Bugle is dragging his name through the mud. To make matters worse, his powers are glitching out because of a massive identity crisis. Enter Dr. Otto Octavius, a brilliant scientist who becomes a mentor to Peter until a fusion experiment goes horribly wrong, fusing four sentient mechanical tentacles to his spine and killing his wife. Driven mad by the AI in his arms, "Doc Ock" begins a quest to rebuild his dangerous machine, forcing a powerless Peter to decide if he can truly walk away from being Spider-Man. THE PROS This is epic status. It’s widely considered one of the best superhero movies ever made, and for good reason. Alfred Molina is a total win as Doc Ock, bringing a tragic, sympathetic depth to a villain that makes you actually care about his soul. The train sequence is an absolute masterstroke—it’s punchy, visceral, and still stands as one of the greatest action set-pieces in cinema history. It’s a 10/10 because it balances the "superhero" spectacle with a quality, human story about the cost of responsibility. J.K.
