⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Howard Hughes (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a man who wants it all: to direct the biggest movies, fly the fastest planes, and conquer the world of aviation. This sprawling biopic follows Hughes from the late 1920s to the late 1940s as he builds TWA into a global powerhouse and designs the massive Hercules flying boat. But as his ambition grows, so does his internal struggle; behind the glamour of Hollywood starlets like Katharine Hepburn (Cate Blanchett) lies a man spiraling into a gritty battle with obsessive-compulsive disorder and a crippling fear of germs. THE PROS This is Martin Scorsese at his most ambitious and visually stunning. It hits a 9 because the production value is truly epic—the flight sequences, especially the XF-11 crash, are some of the most harrowing and well-crafted moments in cinema history. Leonardo DiCaprio delivers an honest, pained performance, capturing Hughes' transformation from a cocky visionary to a broken man trapped in a screening room. Cate Blanchett is a win as Hepburn, bringing a sharp, witty energy that balances the darker themes.
