⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 6/10 THE SUMMARY Kit Harington trades his Jon Snow furs for some even hairier attire in this slow-burn gothic horror. Set in a remote, fortified manor in the English wilds, the story is told through the eyes of 10-year-old Willow (Caoilinn Springall). She lives a secluded life with her parents, but she’s increasingly bothered by her father’s erratic behavior and the secret late-night treks they take into the heart of the forest. As she digs deeper, she discovers a dark family curse that turns her father into a literal monster every full moon. It’s a film that uses the werewolf myth as a heavy-handed metaphor for domestic abuse and generational trauma. THE PROS Caoilinn Springall is a total winner; she carries the movie with an honest and expressive performance that makes you feel every bit of her confusion and fear. Kit Harington is equally sincere, playing the "two wolves" inside him with a rugged, simmering intensity that works well for the film's grim tone. It’s a 6/10 because the cinematography is stunning, using the bleak, misty English countryside to create a thick atmosphere of dread that feels almost suffocating. The decision to keep the "beast" in the shadows for most of the runtime is a smart move, relying on the audience's imagination to build the tension. James Cosmo also turns up as the protective grandfather, bringing his usual high-quality gravity to every scene he’s in. THE CONS It earns a 6/10 because the middle part is incredibly sluggish, focusing so much on the "slow-burn" family drama that the horror elements feel a bit sidelined.
