⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 3/10 THE SUMMARY Five strangers—including a detective and a guy who looks like he’s never held a card in his life—are invited to a luxurious hotel for a "once-in-a-lifetime" poker game. The hook? It’s not about the money (though there’s plenty of that); it’s about survival. As the night unfolds, secrets come out, the hotel doors lock tight, and the players realize they aren't just betting chips—they’re betting their souls against forces that make a "bad beat" look like a spa day. It’s The Menu meets Casino Royale, but on a shoestring budget and with a lot more yelling. THE PROS Seth Green is always a welcome face, even when he’s trapped in a script that feels like it was written on a cocktail napkin. He brings a bit of frantic energy that keeps the movie from being a total snooze-fest. The set design is actually decent—the hotel looks expensive enough to justify the "luxury" tag. If you’re a fan of "single-room" thrillers where people slowly lose their minds, there are a few minutes of genuine tension before the plot starts leaking oil. THE CONS It is, quite frankly, a mess. The "supernatural" twist feels like it was tacked on because the writers couldn't figure out a clever way to end a poker game. The dialogue is clunky, the pacing is glacial, and the "big reveals" about the characters' pasts are predictable enough to see from space. Even the marketing was sloppy—sharp-eyed viewers noticed "New Orleans" was misspelled as "New Orelans" in the trailer, which pretty much sums up the level of care put into this one. It’s a 3/10 because it wastes a decent cast on a premise that’s been done better by student films. THE VERDICT Fold. This is not a "Guaranteed Banger." It’s a "straight-to-digital" disappointment that manages to make a high-stakes game for souls feel boring. Unless you’re a Seth Green completionist or you’ve run out of literally everything else to watch on Prime, you’re better off playing a round of Solitaire on your phone. It’s the kind of movie that makes you wish you could bet your time back. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA Despite the supernatural "hell" vibes, the film was mostly shot in a real luxury hotel to save on costs. Fans of Entourage might get a kick out of seeing Kevin Dillon (Johnny Drama) at the table, though his luck here is about as good as his character's luck in Hollywood. Also, the film had a lightning-fast turnaround—it premiered at the Beverly Hills Film Festival on April 13, 2026, and was on digital platforms literally the next day. THE VIBE Like a casino at 5 AM—smells like stale air, regret, and the realization that you should have left three hours ago.
