⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Brooklyn plumbers Mario and Luigi get sucked into a mysterious warp pipe while working underground, separating the brothers and dropping them into a vibrant, high-stakes multiverse. Mario lands in the Mushroom Kingdom, teaming up with a surprisingly proactive Princess Peach and a brave Toad to rescue Luigi from the clutches of the fire-breathing tyrant, Bowser. It’s a kaleidoscopic journey through iconic gaming landscapes, from the floating platforms of Kong Island to the high-speed drifts of Rainbow Road, all powered by a relentless stream of power-ups and nostalgia. THE PROS This film is a win because it is a sincere love letter to the fans; every frame is a celebratory explosion of "Easter eggs" and references that feel earned rather than forced. The animation by Illumination is a total belter, capturing the bouncy, tactile feel of the games with incredible detail and color. Jack Black steals the entire show as Bowser, delivering a performance that is both genuinely menacing and hilariously pathetic—his "Peaches" ballad is an absolute standout. It’s a sincere, fast-paced adventure that manages to make a world built on jumping on turtles feel cohesive and surprisingly cinematic.
