    Thrash (2026) Rating: 4/10 A skating movie that thinks it’s Succession on wheels. It tries to be a gritty "corporate takeover" drama but ends up feeling like a 90-minute commercial for energy drinks and bad attitudes. THE SUMMARY Jax is a legendary pro-skater whose body is held together by titanium screws and sheer spite. When a massive tech conglomerate tries to buy out his independent skate brand, Jax has to decide between "selling out" to save his employees or watching his legacy burn. It’s a lot of boardroom meetings interrupted by the occasional kickflip to remind us that they actually own skateboards. THE PROS The skate cinematography is top-tier. They clearly used professional riders for the stunts, and the 4K slow-mo shots of wheels hitting the pavement are beautiful. There’s a specific sequence at a derelict swimming pool that is genuinely hypnotic and makes you wish the whole movie was just a silent skate tape. THE CONS The dialogue is painfully "fellow kids." Hearing a 50-year-old CEO try to use modern slang while discussing profit margins is enough to give you secondhand embarrassment. The plot is also incredibly predictable—you can see the "shocking" betrayal coming from the first fifteen minutes, and the ending is a cheesy montage that feels like it belongs in a Disney Channel original. THE VERDICT It’s a 4/10. It’s too corporate for the skaters and too "skater" for the people who like corporate dramas. Unless you’re just here to watch some high-quality rail grinds, this one is a skip. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA The lead actor, Jason Lee, actually performed several of his own technical flatground tricks, calling back to his real-life professional skating career before he became a full-time actor. Also, look closely at the "background" skaters during the final competition—many of them are current X-Games medalists making blink-and-you-miss-it cameos. THE VIBE Poser energy. It’s a movie that wears a Thrasher hoodie but has never actually touched a board. Best watched if you’re a gear-head who just wants to look at the pretty cinematography.
