Overview

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Benoit Blanc is back, and this time he’s traded the linen suits for a bit of gloomy upstate New York drizzle. When a high-profile priest is found dead in a way that should be physically impossible, Blanc has to sift through a parish full of suspects—including a cynical novelist and a very tired doctor. It’s a gothic-tinged puzzle that swaps the "eat the rich" vibes for a dark, twisty dive into secrets, lies, and what’s hiding behind the church pews. THE PROS This is a total win. Rian Johnson still knows how to pull the rug out from under you just when you think you’ve got it sorted. Daniel Craig is a belter as always, but Josh O’Connor nearly steals the show as a junior priest with more wit than he lets on. The cast is stacked—Glenn Close and Josh Brolin bring a sincere weight to the whole thing. It’s highly recommended because it feels fresh; it’s moody, atmospheric, and genuinely gripping without just repeating the same old formula. THE CONS It earns a 9/10 because there’s a bit in the middle where they talk about theology a bit too much and it starts to feel slightly sluggish—like a long Sunday sermon when you just want to get to the roast dinner.
