Overview

It's been nearly 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now, a new team, led by physicist Ben Song, has been assembled to restart the project in hope of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it. Everything changes, however, when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it.

This time around, Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee) is the one leaping through time, inhabiting bodies to "put right what once went wrong," while his fiancée Addison (Caitlin Bassett) guides him as a high-tech hologram. By April 2026, the dust has well and truly settled on the series; NBC officially pulled the plug in April 2024, leaving the show to conclude after its two-season run. THE PROS Raymond Lee is a sincere highlight, bringing a genuine, vulnerable energy to the role of Ben that differentiates him from Sam Beckett without losing that classic "hero with a heart" vibe. The decision to focus more on the "present-day" team at Quantum Leap HQ was a total win, giving the supporting cast—especially the non-binary AI architect Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park)—actual skin in the game. It’s a gripping feat of sci-fi nostalgia that manages to feel more diverse and modernized than the original, blending procedural "leap of the week" stories with a larger, season-long conspiracy. THE CONS It lands a 7/10 because it often struggles to balance the two timelines; the drama back at HQ can occasionally feel like a bit of a head-scratcher that pulls focus from the more emotional, period-accurate leaps. While the chemistry between Ben and Addison is authentic, the show’s reliance on high-tech jargon sometimes drains the "magic" that made the original feel so personal. THE VIBE Like a digital glitch in a vintage photo. It smells of ozone, old books from the 80s, and the metallic tang of a computer lab that’s been running for 30 years straight.
