    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY A gritty, high-stakes mystery that follows Simon Greene, a wealthy investment banker whose life is shattered when his teenage daughter, Paige, runs away and spirals into drug addiction. After an intense, public confrontation in a city park leads to an act of shocking violence, Simon is dragged into a dangerous criminal underworld. As he desperately tries to find his daughter and piece his family back together, he uncovers a web of dark secrets and chilling revelations that suggest his "perfect" life was built on nothing but dangerous lies. THE PROS James Nesbitt is outstanding, delivering a deeply raw and desperate performance that grounds the show’s more over-the-top twists in real, human emotion. The pacing is relentlessly fast, with each episode ending on a massive cliffhanger that makes it incredibly hard to stop watching. The transition of the setting to the North West of England gives the story a moody, rain-soaked, and authentic atmosphere that fits the "Coben" style of mystery perfectly, and Minnie Driver adds a brilliant layer of complex, guarded mystery to her role as Simon's wife, Ingrid. THE CONS As with many of Harlan Coben's adaptations, the plot can occasionally become a bit convoluted, with so many subplots and shady characters crossing paths that you might need a notepad to keep everyone straight. Some of the resolutions in the final act feel a little bit rushed, trading logical explanations for sheer shock value just to wrap up the mystery. THE VERDICT A great 8/10. It is a sharp, incredibly addictive thriller that knows exactly what its audience wants and delivers it with style. It secures an 8 because the central performances carry the narrative through even the loopiest moments, and it succeeds as a genuinely gripping, binge-worthy mystery. If you are a fan of dark, twisting British crime dramas, this is a must-watch.
