⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 6/10 THE SUMMARY Welcome back to the "Money Pit," where the dream is immortal but the hole is endless. *The Curse of Oak Island* (2014–Present) follows brothers Rick and Marty Lagina as they pour millions into a 230-year-old treasure hunt off the coast of Nova Scotia. By April 23, 2026, we are currently in the home stretch of Season 13, which is set to wrap up on May 5, 2026. This season has shifted the focus toward a potential Knights Templar connection in the Azores, while the team continues to battle the "curse" that says seven must die before the treasure is found. (Currently at six, and the 2026 crew is looking a bit nervous.) THE PROS The Lagina brothers are a total win; their sincere, obsessive brotherhood is the 900+ archive’s emotional anchor, making you root for them even when they’re just digging up another piece of 18th-century wood. The 2026 episodes have been the business, specifically the "Island Hopping" special that aired earlier this week (April 21), where Rick and the team traveled to Portugal to hunt for Templar links. The show’s biggest win is its "high-tech" approach; the use of muon tomography and massive 40,000-pound boulder lifts on Lot 8 provides a sincere, "big machinery" thrill that satisfies the inner engineer in every viewer. Gary Drayton’s "Bobby Dazzler" finds remain a sincere highlight, keeping the "gold fever" alive for one more week. THE CONS It is a 6/10 because, after 13 seasons and over 250 episodes, the "Languid Burn" has become a total lifestyle. It misses the 7/10 mark because the constant cliffhangers ("Could it be?") followed by a reveal of a rusty nail can be a total head-scratcher for anyone looking for actual bullion. It is total garbage that the show’s narrator still asks the same hypothetical questions he did in 2014, making the 2026 episodes feel a bit like a time loop. For some, the announcement that Season 14 (premiering in November 2026) will be the "final season" is a relief, as the search for the "Money Pit" is starting to feel like a sincere test of human patience. THE VERDICT A 6/10. It is a genuine, addictive, and occasionally exhausting epic of perseverance. I was slightly gutted when the "silver lining" in the Money Pit earlier this year (Episode 13) turned out to be less than a King Solomon's hoard, but the journey remains the business. It is total garbage if you want a fast-paced mystery with a resolution, but as a masterclass in "sunk cost fallacy" and fraternal hope, it’s a vault essential.
