⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Stacy Clyburn (Michelle Pfeiffer) is a wealthy New Yorker whose life is shattered by a sudden tragedy. Seeking a fresh start and a way to process her grief, she packs up her family—including her two daughters and their own messy lives—and heads to the Madison River valley in central Montana. It’s a world away from Manhattan, centered around the rugged lifestyle her husband Preston (Kurt Russell) and his brother Paul (Matthew Fox) have always loved. The series is an intimate look at a family trying to reconnect while their old world dissolves, trading orchids and penthouse tubs for fly-fishing and wood-burning fireplaces. THE PROS This is a great series because it’s easily Taylor Sheridan’s most personal and intimate work to date. It hits an 8 because the casting is amazing; having Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell together on screen is a total highlight and brings a sincere, heavy-hitting maturity to the story. The contrast between the vibrant energy of New York and the sweeping, quiet landscapes of Montana is handled with a smart, cinematic touch that makes the grief feel honest. It’s a great series for those who want a "prestige" family drama that focuses more on human connection than shootout sequences. Seeing Matthew Fox back in a major role as the outdoorsy bachelor brother is an amazing result for fans who have missed him on screen. THE CONS It stays at an 8 because the pacing can feel like a bit of a slog in the middle, especially during the repetitive therapy sessions between Stacy and her doctor (played by Will Arnett). It misses a higher mark because the shift in tone from Sheridan’s usual "macho" Westerns to a more sensitive family study might be an honest head-scratcher for viewers expecting *Yellowstone* levels of violence. The self-centered nature of the adult daughters can be a bit of a slog to sit through, and some of the dialogue in the New York flashbacks feels a pained bit "written" rather than entirely natural.
