⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Set in the 1950s, Timothée Chalamet stars as Marty Mauser, a cocky, slick-tongued shoe salesman who’s determined to become a world-champion table tennis player. Loosely based on the real-life legend Marty Reisman, the story follows Marty as he hustles his way from the backstreets of New York to the prestigious courts of London and Tokyo. Along the way, he gets entangled with a wealthy socialite (Gwyneth Paltrow) and a shady businessman (Kevin O'Leary) who want to turn his talent into a circus act. It’s a stylish, high-stakes sports drama about a man who treats a ping-pong paddle like a weapon and his life like one big, dangerous bet. THE PROS Timothée Chalamet is pure quality here, ditching his usual "soft" persona for a performance that is sharp, arrogant, and punchy.
