Overview

As his memories drip back in, he realizes he’s the last hope for a dying Sun. But this isn't a lonely slog through the cosmos. Enter Rocky—a spider-like, rock-skinned alien engineer from another star system with the same problem and a much cooler ship. What follows is the ultimate interstellar bromance; two lone survivors using science, jazz-like communication, and pure grit to save two worlds. It’s a masterclass in optimism that proves the universe is a lot less scary when you have a friend who thinks "fist-my-bump" is a sacred greeting. THE PROS This is a 10/10 because it is the "GO WATCH THIS RIGHT NOW" pinnacle of science fiction. Ryan Gosling delivers the performance of his career, capturing Ryland’s transition from a cowardly teacher to a selfless hero with perfect comedic timing. It hits "Epic Status" because of Rocky; James Ortiz’s performance (and the incredible practical puppetry) makes a faceless alien the most lovable character of 2026. The chemistry is electric, making you forget you’re watching a man talk to a hunk of silicone and LEDs. Lord and Miller have crafted a visual feast that balances high-stakes physics with genuine heart, and Sandra Hüller’s Eva Stratt provides the perfect, steely backbone to the flashbacks.
